Waunakee

Recognized as one Wisconsin’s safest cities for the last 3 years, Waunakee’s parks, high quality schools and tight-knit community spirit make it an ideal choice for families.

The only Waunakee like it.

The Village of Waunakee is located on the northern shores of Lake Mendota, offering a tight-knit, family-oriented community. Founded over 100 years ago, Waunakee continues to grow and evolve its innovative spirit to this day. The village offers a variety of attractions, from soccer games and antiquing to spacious community outdoor spaces, including the nearby Governor Nelson State Park. One of the community’s more popular traditions happens every Fourth of July when Waunakee hosts WaunaBoom, an all-day family celebration.

Waunakee’s neighborhood parks, restaurants and friendly corner stores make all four seasons comfortable, from the mid-80s summers through the low-teens winters.

There are 23 active neighborhood communities on NextDoor.com, including Westport, Southbridge, Centennial Heights and Riverview Garden. (Just to name a few.)

Waunakee is an easy drive to Madison College and the University of Wisconsin’s Madison campus. Younger students can attend one of three local elementary schools, as well as the Village’s intermediate, middle or high schools.

Just off two major highways and 15 minutes away from the Dane County Regional Airport, Waunakee is well connected to Madison and the wider world.
